We could at least document the work around as an additional step in JIRA's docs if nothing else. We should change the permissions by default if possible, or find another way of making installing JIRA Standalone on a Mac or Unix machine far easier. I believe this changes the permissions required for startup.sh and catalina.sh and perhaps other files too.
